What is RSS??
RSS is just a simple technology that allows you to keep track of web content easily. Using software called an “aggregator” you can view information from your favorite news sites, blogs, sports sites in one place rather than having to constantly navigate around the web.
Think of the aggregator as your inbox for the web. With e-mail, you don’t have to check with every single one of your friends to see if they sent you e-mail, it all just shows up in your e-mail inbox. Well, RSS aggregators serve the same function for websites.
There are lots of aggregators out there and many are web-based. Some of the most popular web-based aggregators are:
Netvibes
My Yahoo!
Bloglines
Google Reader
Microsoft Live.com
Here’s a nice tutorial on getting started with Netvibes. Google also offers a tour of their reader as well.
Just be sure once you get your RSS aggregator up and running to subscribe to www.madelinek.net!
