still around 4 cm…i think the doctor said 90% effaced. they upped the pitocin to 20.
maddie needs to make some progress in the next hour or so or they’re gonna have to go and get her. jennie is doing awesome and hangin’ tuff like NKOTB but i guess at some point a move has to be made.
we’re hoping madeline is like me and is just a procrastinator and will come through at the last minute!

the doctor was just here…4 cm. at this point, with pretty regular contractions (which jennie’s been having), they usually expect things to move along at 1 cm per hour. so the doctor will check back in an hour or so to see how things are going.
hopefully madeline gets the hint by now and starts making her way into the world.
this most likely means we’ll be able to catch the office…and grey’s…and ER. and possibly letterman and conan.
at least we have a plan!

so the anesthesiologist (big word) was here about 15 minutes ago. funny story, he has a daughter named madeline rose. and our nurse emily has a daughter named madeline. it was like a convention of PoMs in here (Parents of Madelines).
anywho, i am pretty proud of myself for making it through that ordeal without passing out.
jennie’s BP dropped a bit after the epidural went in, and as a result the baby’s heartbeat became a little unstable, but the nurses did a good job changing her position (jennie’s) and things came back to normal within a couple minutes.
the doctor just came in for a check. about 3cm, 80% effaced. i think…
so now that all that is taken care of, i think jennie’s gonna rest some and i’m gonna watch some sportscenter!

…contractions are getting stronger, the pitocin is up to 20, they’ve given some stadol to help take the edge off and jenn is still at around 2cm. her blood pressure has been great, as has the baby’s heartrate through all of this madness. i’m not sure the same can be said for my blood pressure and heartrate.
she just turned to me and said “i think i’m ready for my epidural.” so i think the next time the nurse or doctor comes in we’re gonna see what they can do about that.
hopefully, once she gets the epidural, she can relax a bit and that will accelerate things a little bit. i’m reading a book and fetching ice!

doctor was just here. the contractions are definitely getting stronger and more regular. jennie’s now 2 cm and 75% effaced. i think she’s going to try and fight through to 4 or 5 cm before the big E!
we’re listening to Travis “The Man Who”. i’m not sure it’s helping at all. we have some beatles for when it really counts!

i had a turkey sandwich.
jennie had ice chips and increasingly painful contractions…
hopefully the doctor will be back soon to see how far she’s progressed.

the doctor just came in to check. jenn is at about 14 on the pitocin and the contractions have kicked up a little bit, still nothing too bad though. the doctor checked and the dilation is about the same so she broke the bag of waters to get things moving somewhat. we’ll see if that does anything!

just a quick update. jenn’s been on the pitocin for almost 3 hours now, and while she is contracting, it’s nothing major…or even really painful for her at this point. the baby is still so high up, she really needs to move down so jenn can dilate some more and the baby’s head can break the water and all that good stuff…then the party starts!

dr. kuroki was just here. jenn is still 1cm but she’s gonna get started on the pitocin anyway. the doctor said that “we have our work cut out for us.” i’m not sure if i’m including in that…i guess my fingers could get tired providing updates.
so i think we’re in for a pretty long day.

Sleep was fun….I think I finally fell asleep around 2:30. Jennie didn’t get any rest till about 4:45am. She was increasingly uncomfortable throughout the night due to contractions, the ambien didn’t really do anything so she asked the nurse for some pain stuff.
The nurse came in and gave her a shot of something (tequila??) and she was right out. She was checked a couple times during the night and she’s still about 1 to 2 centimeters dilated.
As of right now, the cervadil is out and we’re waiting for the doctor to come in to see what’s next. We either start the pitocin or do another round of cervadil.
