these kids are gonna give us a run for our money i tell ya!!!!
good times!
madeline’s had quite a few “firsts” so far this weekend. this is her first road trip. she took her first train ride on the subway (or the “T” as they call it here). her first trip to the aquarium was today…she was fascinated. we also tried to see how much we could get away with and took her to her first 3-D IMAX movie….the DEEP SEA! i thought we’d be out of there in 10 minutes for sure (it was loud and kinda creepy…fish are weird!!!) but she was great! she watched the whole thing and didn’t make a sound. of course, she had quite a freakout at the charthouse at dinner because she was hungry. good times! other than that little incident, she’s really adjusted well to her new surroundings. it was amazing today to watch her reaction in the aquarium! i can only imagine what she’s dreaming about right now….
you probably can’t tell from the most recent pictures, but we’re in boston this weekend. don’t worry, we haven’t spent the whole time just laying in bed, it’s just kinda cold here so the best time to take pics of maddie are when we’re indoors.
the car ride up was an adventure to say the least….it wouldn’t have been so bad if we left earlier, it’s just that we were still on the road when it was time for maddie to wind down for bed. she was not happy about that…but we made it. i think (HOPE) the ride home will be a little smoother.
yesterday we walked around the city, saw boston common, fanueil hall, ate at legal seafoods. good times! today we’re heading to the new england aquarium. hopefully i’ll be able to get some good pictures there!
well, madeline had her 4 month appointment this morning. everything’s looking good. she weighed in at 14lbs 1oz, 25 inches tall, which puts her in the 50th percentile in weight and 75th for length, whatever that means.
she was a trooper too. it was a very busy day at the pediatricians office so we had to wait a long time, and she must’ve been getting hungry, but she was very patient and didn’t fuss at all. then the shots came. she was even good through those. after the third one she cried for a few minutes but that was it. once we got in the car, she fell asleep.
one thing that the doctor noticed was that the lines on the backs of her thighs didn’t really line up, which COULD be a sign of hip dysplasia…nothing serious or painful, it just might cause arthritis later in life. just to be on the safe side, they recommended getting an ultrasound. i’m sure it’s nothing!
in other news, the doctor said we can start her on rice cereal or oatmeal! from a spoon! and in a month or so, start with the baby food. i can’t believe it. time flies when you’re chewing gum!!!!!
so, i start off the week complaining that madeline’s no longer sleeping through the night, and she goes and proves me wrong! the last 2 nights she’s slept from like 9:30pm to 7:30am and right now she’s fast asleep (i hope!)
tomorrow we have her 4-month checkup. i think she will be getting shots. good times!
seems like someone forgot to tell madeline that daylight savings time started last weekend. the last 2 nights she’s been up at 3:30am demanding food! i know, i know…we’ve had it easy so far. i really can’t remember the last time she was up in the middle of the night.
anyway, it’s not so bad. once she’s fed, it’s just another 15-30 minutes to get her back to sleep and all is well. we’re still trying to figure out the reason for the change…DST? a cold? teeth? growth spurt? all of the above???
we’ll know soon enough, i suppose; her 4 month appointment is this friday! in the meantime, wish us luck!
maddie is laughing now as you can see in this video.
(note: if you can’t see the video, you need to upgrade your flash player. don’t worry…it doesn’t hurt.
